What is barcode tracking system?

barcode-system
Barcode tracking system, also known as barcode system, is an automatic identification system consisting of barcode symbology design, production, scanning, and reading. In other words, a barcode tracking system consists of a barcode scanner, an amplification and shaping circuit, a decoding interface circuit, and a computer system to read out the information represented by the barcode.

Barcode tracking system components

Barcode tracking system is one of the important systems for automated identification of laboratory management. It is generally composed of a barcode, scanner, and corresponding software, which is powerful support for information tracking and management.

A. Bar code

A bar code is a bar, dot, or block pattern with optical reflective differences printed on a flat carrier such as a label or tag according to a prescribed coding principle and symbol printing standards for text, numbers, and other information. The graphics can be read, identified, decoded, and transmitted into a computer by a scanner.

B. Scanner

Scanners can visually collect bar code data and convert them into usable information. There are two types of scanners: handheld and positioned. Each type can use the contact and non-contact technology.

System identification principle of barcode tracking system

The white object can reflect various wavelengths of visible light and the black object absorbs various wavelengths of visible light, so when the light from the barcode scanner light source is irradiated to the black and white barcode after the diaphragm and convex lens 1, the reflected light is focused by the convex lens 2 and irradiated to the photoelectric converter. So, the photoelectric converter receives the reflected light signal of different strengths and weaknesses corresponding to the white bar and black bar and converts it into a corresponding electric signal output to the amplifying and shaping circuit. The width of the white bar and black bar is different, and the duration of the corresponding electric signal is also different. However, the electrical signal output by the photoelectric converter corresponding to the bar and the empty barcode is only about 10mV, so it cannot be used directly, so the electrical signal output by the photoelectric converter must be sent to the amplifier for amplification first. The amplified electrical signal is still an analog electrical signal. To avoid the wrong signal caused by the blemish and stain in the barcode, a shaping circuit needs to be added after the amplification circuit to convert the analog signal into a digital electric signal so that the computer system can accurately read it.

The pulsed digital signal from the shaping circuit is converted into digital and character information by the decoder. It discriminates the code system and scanning direction of the barcode symbol by recognizing the starting and ending characters; it discriminates the number of bars and blanks by measuring the number of 0 and 1 of the pulse digital signal. By measuring the duration of 0 and 1 signals, the width of bars and blanks are discerned. In this way, the number of bars and blanks of the barcode symbols being read and the corresponding width and code system are obtained, and according to the coding rules corresponding to the code system, the barcode symbols can be exchanged into corresponding digital and character information, which is sent to the computer system for data processing and management through the interface circuit, and then the whole process of the barcode system is completed.

Function of barcode tracking system

A. Foundations of laboratory management

The information data contained in the barcode is a brief manual. By pooling a large amount of information through barcode units, it is possible to collect and record information electronically. Depending on this system, the basis of the laboratory information system is constructed.

B. Information source for laboratory management

Bar code in the laboratory management process, no matter what position it is in can be read by a special bar code reading device. By reading the barcode, you can keep track of the location status and related management status of the lab management object.

Application of barcode tracking system

The main application areas of the barcode tracking system are as follows.

a. Inventory management field. By recognizing bar codes, laboratory administrators can grasp information on incoming and outgoing inventory, inventory quantity, and location in the warehouse to support inventory management and warehouse operations.

b. Focused management area. Based on the barcode information, the classification of ABC can be automatically generated by the related software, thus supporting the key management.

c. Distribution field. In distribution work, fine picking or sorting according to the information provided by the barcode realizes the distribution work.

d. Electronic Data Interchange. Serves as a basic tutorial for electronic data interchange systems.

e. Supply Chain. By barcode identification, the goods in transit are grasped.

f. Logistics management. Management activities such as statistics, settlement, and analysis through the information transmitted by bar codes.

Advantages of barcode tracking system

a. The quantity and price of available products are readily available to the salesman. And the relevant salesman requirements do not need to specifically note the material requirements unless it is for the production process requirements.

b. Using the current common data collector (simply called a scan gun), with the software developed for the combination with the ERP system to complete the data collection and conversion. It can save a lot of confirmation work and reduce the error rate of material department staff.

c. Handling complaints is more targeted. When a customer complaint occurs, the batch number and production group of the material used at that time will be queried in the system for the first time. There is also the corresponding product quality inspection information. You can figure out where the problem lies within 3-5 minutes, and review the products in stock in a timely manner. The quality of other orders using the same materials can also be monitored in a timely manner. To avoid the loss of the company.

d. When logging the code into the system, fill in the corresponding original code and inspection standard (also a procurement requirement). Maintain the consistency of product requirements. Ensure the consistency of product quality.

e. You can use inventory information in a timely manner. This system can reflect the salesman directly facing the product warehouse, and clear the current situation of goods and prices. No need to repeatedly confirm with other department personnel. Orders will not be delayed due to the busy work of a person. It is timely.

f. Automaticity of financial statistics. Since the inventory data is real. (For each incoming and outgoing stock, the barcode of goods needs to be scanned, and the order number and quantity need to be entered.) Also, the price of the product is already entered into the system when the purchase is inbound. The software can produce data on inventory and inventory amounts in a short time, statistics of various goods, etc.

g. Automaticity of the system. The system is automatic so that even if a departmental staff does not operate, other departmental staff are aware of the order situation. (The current process of tracking requires a department to process the order in order for the order to flow down. In this system, if there are enough products, the salesman directly faces the warehouse or production, in time an order has a certain number of products sufficient warehouse or production staff can also operate in a timely manner. (Make full use of time) (For example, the quality department and material department personnel are on leave, and the work is not done to hand over. Other temporary replacements can also immediately carry out inspection and warehousing, out of the warehouse work. As the product requirements can be fully reflected in the system above. The number of goods and the location of placement are reflected clearly. (There will be no mistakes, just a slight reduction in efficiency).

h. Save labor. Now part of the staff's work can be replaced by the system. The workload of existing personnel is greatly reduced. (9) Reduce the cost of errors. Reduce the losses caused by operational errors between departments (personnel errors, customer complaints, loss of reputation due to delivery delays) and the time wasted on communication.

i. Improve the management standard of the laboratory.

General coding types

a. The system code format is "product code + product level code". The common format is "letter + number + letter", which is easy to distinguish.

b. Goods code: unified as "supplier code (three letters) + contract number (four digits) + product code (N characters)"

c. Production flow code: "order number (letter + 5 digits) + number of items (two digits) + group (N-bit characters)"

d. Package shipping code
a) Box number: "Carton box number (1 digit letter + 2 digits).
b) Box contents: packing list number (The first column is marked with box number code. The remaining columns use the scanning machine to scan the barcode and enter the quantity, the system automatically generates the packing list).

Use of barcode tracking system

a. Bar code printing equipment according to the direction indicated in the figure, the dotted line is the ribbon installation path, and the solid line is the label path. After rewinding the waste ribbon is not easy to peel off, then the smooth backing paper of the waste label is rolled on the rewinding axis before loading, and then on the ribbon.

b. When installing labels, adjust the paper limiter according to different label widths. Pressure the head spring evenly, you can avoid the printer label runaway. The first time you use the printer to measure the paper.

c. Panel Controls

a) PAUSE key: pause and start printing.
b) FEED key: paper feeding.
c) CANCEL key: when the print data is transferred to the printer but does not need to print can first press PAUSE, and then press CANCEL several times until the data light off.
d) CALIBRATE: Label test. When installing a new specification label, test the parameters of the label before printing properly.

Note: The label can be rewound after the paper test, but the ribbon cannot be rewound.
