Description of test tube brush
There are many experimental vessels and instruments to be used in the laboratory, such as test tubes, measuring cylinders, beakers, flasks, conical flasks, and so on. The cleanliness of the instruments in the laboratory is relatively high because it can have a decisive impact on the accuracy of the experimental results. Therefore, the instruments must be cleaned before the experiment. If there is residual material on the walls of the instruments, use a
test tube brush of the appropriate size to clean them.
Test tube brush, also called
tube brush, straw brush,
test tube cleaning brush,
test tube washing brush, pipe brush, and so on. It is a very widely used brush product. It is made of iron wire (steel wire) as a skeleton with many neatly arranged, outwardly extending fine bristles.
Test tube brush wire materials include nylon wire, fiber bristles, pig bristles, steel wire, copper wire, abrasive wire, etc. Each material corresponds to a different range of use.
Application of Test tube brush
Test tube brush is used to remove the tiny burrs on the surface of the hole after finishing, thus improving the finish of the inner hole.
As an emerging brush product, test tube cleaning brush has a very wide range of applications. It can be used for deburring the groove edge in the hydraulic felling hole, deburring the cross hole, deburring the air conditioning refrigerator (compressor), deburring the cylinder block, engine parts, machining, hole processing, brake Ceres processing, etc. It is also suitable for polishing some vertebral round, cone, and venturi-type holes. The spherical brush can be used for the best surface treatment of various shapes and sizes of cylinders, valves, cavities, and pipes quickly and easily. A polishing brush can automatically be centered, and automatic calibration of the hole surface for fine and consistent processing does not affect the original accuracy and scale of the workpiece. It is easy to use, safe, economical and has significant results.
Test tube brush also has an indelible credit in medicine or plumbing. It can clean the sides and top of the tube, even if it is very deep because the new test tube brush with tail is already available for use.
Type of test tube brush
Test tube brushes can be divided into dust brushes, polishing brushes, and cleaning brushes. This article focuses on test tube cleaning brush.
A. Dust brush
Dust brush is a tool used to prevent the entry of dust floating in the air during the import and export of industrial equipment or doors, windows, and assembly line components. Dust brush can effectively prevent dust from entering, to avoid dust will contaminate the equipment or products produced, so the dust brush has high requirements for the elasticity of the brush wire. In addition, the surface lubrication of the brush filament is required to be good and needs to have good anti-static properties.
B. Polishing brush
The main purpose of the polishing brush is to remove the burrs on the surface of some objects and to polish the objects finely. Therefore, the requirements of polishing brushes and the type of bristles should be decided according to different requirements. If it is for some surface hard steel plate electroplating polishing, then you should use bronze wire; if it is for general metal material deburring treatment, then use some high hardness wire on it.
C. Cleaning brush
Cleaning brushes are common among industrial brushes, usually used in deep processing of agricultural products or fruit and vegetable cleaning, as well as industrial cleaning and dust removal. Test tube cleaning brush is a common tool in microbiology laboratories. Cleaning brushes have high requirements for the wire. The bristles should have high abrasion resistance. In addition, the elasticity and corrosion resistance should also be high, to ensure that the brush filament can work for a long time without deformation and so on.
Use of test tube brush in laboratory

There are two common cleaning methods for laboratory cleaning of test tubes and other utensils.
a. Use the right size test tube brush for cleaning. Many experimental test tubes have significant non-cleanable material on the inside wall or bottom after use, so use the right size test tube brush to pull up and down or rotate 360 degrees to scrub the wall and bottom of the tube.
b. If there is a stubborn residue on the wall of the test tube pipe, you can use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean it. Ultrasonic energy can penetrate the inner wall of glassware and fine crevices, small holes, dead ends, and some other difficult-to-clean locations to make it clean. If the results are not satisfactory you can also add some stain removal powder and detergent for washing.
You can choose the cleaning method according to the degree of tarnishing and the different nature of the dirt.
Test tube brush use
After the experiment, there may be excess liquid and chemical residues left in the test tube. If you rinse the tubes with water alone, you may not be able to wash off the substances, and the residue may affect the accuracy of future experiments or even cause harm. Therefore, a test tube brush must be used to scrub away the residue.
The test tube cleaning brush is used in chemistry laboratories for cleaning test tubes. Its handle is made of iron and other metals, and the upper end is a tough cylindrical brush with some protruding bristles at the top. The brushes are available in different sizes to fit different lengths and diameters of test tubes.
Chemistry test tube brush
Wet the tube to be cleaned or fill it with one-half of the volume of distilled water, and then stick the brush inside the tube so that the top bristles are close to the bottom of the tube. Then pull the handle of the brush up and down to clean the inner wall of the tube, while turning the brush. After cleaning, remove the brush and clean the tube if the distilled water inside the tube does not gather into droplets and does not flow down into strands. Then place the test tube upside down on the test tube rack.
Precaution of test tube brush
a. According to the shape and height of the test tube and other parameters choose the appropriate test tube brush for cleaning because if the test tube cleaning is not clean will directly affect the experimental results, resulting in inaccurate
b. When cleaning the test tubes with the test tube brush, the test tubes must be rotated or moved up and down, but not too hard to prevent damage to the test tubes or corrosive chemicals that can cause injury. Therefore, precautions should be taken and extra care should be exercised.
c. If grease is attached to the inside of the test tube, it cannot be brushed with tap water. Grease is insoluble in water, so it cannot be washed off with water and needs to be cleaned with a specific cleaning solution.
d. Wash the test tube in time. The test tube needs to be washed in time after the test because it is easy to judge the nature of the residue at this time. In some chemical experiments, if the residue after the reaction is poured out in time, there is no residue left on the inside of the test tube that is difficult to remove. However, if the volatile solvent escapes after some time, there will be residues attached to the inner wall of the test tube, making washing more difficult. Therefore, the tubes should be cleaned with a test tube brush in time after use.
Custom test tube brush
The cleaning of test tubes needs to be taken into account and the use of a
test tube brush should not be taken lightly, otherwise, the life of the tubes will be greatly reduced.
ANTITECK offers custom-made brushes in different sizes and materials that meet your requirements for the application.
The test tube brush is made of twisted bristles and skeletons and is not a standard product. Its diameter, length, and total length can be customized to meet the requirements of the application, so it can clean a variety of utensils.
a. Common custom diameters are 1 to 30 mm.
b. The length of the brush hair refers to the length of the filament, the conventional customization value is 5~200mm.
c. Total length is 20~500mm.
d. The material of the bristles can be selected according to the requirements of the use, commonly used materials are PA, PP, PET, PE, PBT, and pig hair.
e. The diameter of the tail winding can also be customized.
For better cleaning effectiveness, the head of the
test tube brush can be treated. Common processes are head dispensing, scalloped treatment, single winding back, cotton head treatment, cutting off, winding flower, etc. The tail can also be fitted with different materials and shapes of handles according to different preferences, the simplest of which is the winding back treatment.
